Dear Brian,
I am writing to you on behalf of Penrith Mountain Rescue Team to thank for your recent donation of £132.59. As you know we receive no government funding and it is donations such as yours that enable us to keep people safe on the fells and the wider area 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are currently raising money for a new Base and have recently identified the need to replace much of our waterproof clothing. Your donation will help us in achieving both of these goals. Next Walk:-
Rheged to Dacre back via Dailmain
October 28th.
Hi all,
The weather is looking better than it was! drying from 10, if it deteriorates we will retire to the cafe.
Meet at the Cross Keys at 9 45 for a car share.
Directions A66 west to the Stainton roundabout and park in the Rheged carpark, meet at 10.00am at the back entrance. - map 90 OL 4 496283 ; what3words - clays.pool.throw (if you download the free app, you can put this in and click navigate).
The route is on paths and quiet roads only 6.1 miles miles, 662 feet of ascent and descent. I will shorten the walk if the weather turns nasty.
If this is your first walk, you might want to bring a flask and something to eat, plus a sit mat.
I hope to collect £1 for Penrith Mountain Rescue.
Just a polite note, can we please stay together and not lose contact with the leader, and also we need to have a volunteer of a back marker for each section, so no one gets left behind, thank you.
Refreshments Rheged afterwards. If you car share please offer a few quid or buy tea and cake, otherwise it could be a long walk home!
If anyone wants to run a walk or has an idea just ask.
Remember to carry emergency contact details.
Let me know only if you are coming - and only by email.
Check email on the morning of the walk.
U3A has a no dog policy.
