Industrial activity changed the lives of millions of people, and continues to do so. Although not the only nation to take part in this process, Britain played a very significant part in industrial development, particularly after 1700. Our group examines all aspects of this history, from the individuals who changed technology, through the processes that did so, to the impact on everyday lives. We hold nine meetings each year, during which we use presentations, video material and occasional site visits to explore relevant local and national aspects of this often forgotten part of the past.
