Open Day 2025

Thursday 27th November might have started out with rain, but luckily by opening time, this had eased off and the overcast day didn’t seem to deter visitors or members. Over the course of the morning we had 38 non-members who attended, together with nearly 60 members. 18 of our visitors signed up to join PNLu3a, with others taking home application forms and other information.

Some 20 convenors attended, with information and displays about their various groups. People I spoke to, both members and non-members, were actively considering joining some of these groups and it was good that quite a few of our recently joined members were able to attend. All could get to meet some of our group convenors and discuss what attending various groups might involve. Jane, our Group’s Coordinator, as usual had a table representing convenors whose groups were happy to have new members, but who were unable to attend. Jane also discussed suggestions for new groups (see separate article), taking details of those interested.

The Open Day is of course also a Coffee Morning, with a variety of tempting seasonal bites – “my first mince pie” was one remark. We were grateful to Teresa, Sandra and Mike for their help with this, with Mike’s shortbread always a hit. Judging by the level of noise as people chatted, the social side of the morning was also a success!

Margaret, our Chair, thanked everyone for attending, with especial thanks to Convenors and Committee members. She also thanked Sandy Wright, who, after the Open Day which she helped to organise, is stepping down from the Committee and her role as Publicity Officer.

Following on from our open day held on Thursday 27th November.

There was an excellent response to potential new groups which have been requested by members.  If you weren’t at the open day and are interested in any of the following groups please contact Jane on janestables@icloud.com

Hopefully we can get a few of these up and running in the New Year.
