Architecture group 1 meets in the spacious Beacon Room at Penrith Methodist Church, where there are facilities for showing a Powerpoint presentation as a basis for discussion by the group, or members can present a prepared topic. Each member is expected to make a contribution to the programme at some time during the year. 

We have looked at architecture from Inigo Jones to Mies Van der Rohe, from Brougham Castle to Blackpool Tower. Among our outings we have visited the Midland Hotel at Morecambe, the renovated Burrell Museum in Glasgow, Newcastleton in the Scottish Borders, and the historic village of Troutbeck near Windermere.
